Temporary Accommodation Team

We provide Temporary Accommodation to people who find themselves in housing crisis.  This accommodation can be in the form of:

• Furnished flat
• Temporary Accommodation Unit
• Supported Accommodation
• Hostel
• Bed and Breakfast

We aim to ensure any accommodation provided is appropriate and suitable to your housing needs and try to keep the use of Bed and Breakfast to a minimum. Every effort is made to avoid placing families with dependant children or pregnant women into Bed and Breakfast accommodation.

We also provide:

• Home visits and tenancy support
• Practical help, advice and support to move on
• Assistance with housing information and advice

we will make sure that any accommodation we offer meets the current standards in environmental health, housing management and fire safety.  Parts of our service are regulated by the Care Commission who inspect our service annually.

 Our accommodation will be:

• fully furnished
• provided with safe working electrical and white goods
• clean, tidy and in good decorative order.

Housing Officers and Wardens manage our properties and visit every fortnight . Please contact one of our staff when:

• you want to report a repair
• furniture or equipment is faulty
• you lose your keys
• you are moving out.

We will make sure that other accommodation the Council uses meets current standards in environmental health, housing management and fire safety.

Transport and Storage

We will:

• arrange storage of your furniture and other belongings within the Edinburgh area
• arrange kennels for your pets
• give you transport to your temporary accommodation.

Home Visits and Support

We will:

• visit you at your accommodation every two weeks
• offer practical help, advice and support
• arrange tenancy support by a specialist agency if required.

Moving On

Your case officer will keep you informed on the progress of your housing application for permanent housing. We can offer you practical advice and assistance with moving into your new home.
